I want to see your smiling face, not a quilt avatar! By seeing your face, I connect with you. I click on your avatar and visit your blog (if you have one) and read about the things you are into. I comment. I pray for you. And next time I see your face in my comment box, I remember you.  

So, I have a little homework for you. I promise it will take less than 5 minutes. If you complete this homework, you’ll be entered in a giveaway for a happy surprise from my Etsy shop. Ooh, prizes…everyone likes a little incentive, right?

Your 2-step Assignment:

1. Go make a Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) at http://en.gravatar.com/ .
2. Come back and make a comment to be entered in the giveaway and see your pretty face appear in the comment section.

The directions for making a Gravatar are easy and self-explanatary. It should only take a few minutes. You do NOT have to have a blog to get a gravatar. Even my non-bloggy visitors can have one!

Alright, go do your homework. I’ll be waiting to see your beautiful face in the comments section…

I’ve realized recently that maybe the reason some people don’t comment or enter giveaways is because they don’t know how. For those of you that fall into this category (ahem, you know who you are) this post is for you!

Reasons to comment:

1. To express a thought or opinion to the blog author. (Side note: Make sure you do this nicely! Sometimes the old adage “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” is a good rule to live by. We like happy thoughts here at The Happy Brown House)
2. Blog authors love comments!!! Me included…I get really giddy when you comment
3. To enter a giveaway!
4. To interact! Sometimes a blog author will ask a question…go ahead and answer!

How to Make a Comment on a Blog:

1. At the bottom of the blog post, click on the words “Post A Comment”.

2.  Type your comment in the box.

3. Pick an identity.

6. If you don’t have a blog, choose “Name/URL”. Enter your name. Notice that a URL is optional.  7. Click the ORANGE button to “Publish Your Comment”  Yay! You know how to comment! **Extra Credit: Practice commenting on this post! Then you can go enter the giveaway!
