We used the Internet a lot for homeschooling our children as well as the library. Funds were always short and we had to find ways to teach the basics. For my son he loved to experiment and tinker like his father so there was plenty around the home for him to learn. He was reading technical manuals by the time he was 14. For my daughter we went to yard sales to find crafting ideas for pennies; with cooking it taught math with fractions, doubling recipes and cutting them half. Beading taught the children to count. Helping with the grocery list also taught them math skills as they would read the labels the stores started to put for comparison buying. They also had to count how many can goods we had so we could figure out how many more we needed to get to last until the next grocery day. We found plastic money at a dollar store and played store at home.
