Need a quick and personalized gift for a loved one? Make a handprint ornament!

We made several of these for special people in our lives as a present from Jonah. I found some large flat ornaments at Hobby Lobby. We painted Jonah’s handprint with white paint for the snowmen bodies. Then I added some hats, scarves, and faces to the snowmen. On the back I wrote the year, Jonah’s name and age. I sprayed the ornaments with a clear craft sealant to protect the paint from scratching off. Tie a ribbon to embellish and it’s ready for giving! I know the recipients will love it! We made an extra for our own tree…I’m a sucker for handprints. I also love to look at ornaments and reminisce. This will be a keepsake for years to come!

too cute… going to try this either today or tomorrow… regular acrylic paint?
thanks for the idea!

Yes, Carol, I used regular acrylic paint. The ornaments I used were clear, but when I sprayed them with my matte sealer they changed to a frosted look. I love the way they turned out! I'd love to know if you try these!
I tried it yesterday… whoops.. didn't get a picture.. BUT I have to make more today.. I used the brush on finish… I think I'll get some spray on today.. and it did turn out OH so cute!!!
thanks again for the AWESOME idea..
off to find some more clear bulb ornaments and some spray for the finishing touch!

What an adorable idea! I love it! Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!
what a great idea! I'd love to do this with my boys
Can you recommend a good sealant? I made one of these for my daughter’s tree at preschool but it is outdoors and I don’t want the acrylic to run. I looked at Michael’s but was completely lost. Thanks!
Colleen, this comment slipped by me. I am so sorry! I used Krylon 1311 Matte Finish Spray for Artists
Love this idea. What did you use to do the detail for the snowmen? I tried sharpies but the color does not show through. The paint comes off when using marker. I have used a clear and a shiney colored bulb. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I used paint acrylic paint and a small paintbrush to paint the details. Luckily, the details are easy shapes!
