18 Months

I just love this picture! Jonah made it clear that he wanted to have both cups (I gave him a choice) and proceeded to carry both of them around and drink from them. He is becoming so funny!

Today we took Jonah for his 18 month check-up. He's grown! At one point Jonah was in the 25th percentile for height, but today at 32 and ¾ inches, he's in the 75th percentile! Go Jonah! Maybe he got the tall gene...I sure didn't. He's still on the small end with his weight, but I don't worry about that at all with his healthy appetite. I'm sure he'll catch up soon! The pediatrician seemed impressed with all of Jonah's progress, and was really proud of all of the words he's been using and that he can point out body parts and say their name. She gave the go-ahead to start encouraging Jonah to sit on the potty, especially since he's been saying "poo, poo" and sticking his hand in his diaper before he goes to the bathroom. We've decided to go with the "no pressure" approach since it is pretty early to potty train a boy, but with his interest in that area we'll give it a try. So now I guess I'll be reading up on potty training theory, although it seems pretty straightforward to me. Repetition & Reminders...just like at school!

We've had warmer weather over the past few days and its been wonderful! Just what I needed to feel motivated about getting some things done around here. Jonah loves being outdoors so we took Jonah to the playground at Chester Frost Park and he had so much fun. He's discovered how fun slides can be, so there was a lot of sliding going on! Jonah wanted to go on the tall slide, but got scared as he went down. He really is a little daredevil! There are large sand piles waiting to be spread out on the "beach" at the lake (weird, I know). Jonah wanted to climb on them, but couldn't figure out how to do it without using his hands. (he doesn't like his hands to get dirty) He loves being outside so I have a feeling our porch furniture will get a lot more use this spring and summer. While playing outside at our house, he likes to explore and pick up leaves, sticks, acorns, etc. and carry them around.
