When I was a little girl, my mom and I had a journal that we used to write notes back and forth. It was used during a difficult time for me as a child when I didn’t know how to express things that I was feeling about my parent’s divorce. The comfort of writing it all out was so much easier for me than actually having the conversation. (Hmm…some things never change) Although the journal came about during a specific time and need, we ended up using the journal for years as I entered puberty, dating, and the difficult years of “finding myself.” I began thinking that I would like to do something similar for my husband and I to exchange “Love Notes”. A place to encourage one another and leave notes for each other…you know, the mushy love stuff. Enter the “Love Notes Journal”…
I took a plain composition notebook (the black & white marbled kind), some Valentine scrapbook paper, and some Mod Podge to decorate my “Love Notes” Journal. I wrote a gushy love note and tied it up with a bow! So simple, and bound to be a keepsake when we’re old!

Great idea! And very cute!
Thank you so much for sharing the project, and for the mention! I love it! What a fab idea! Happy Valentine’s Day.
Thanks for stopping by Amy!
Love this!! What a fun gift to give to a pre teen daughter!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Thank you Kristin! It was so great to connect to my mom this way. We had a policy that I could write whatever I wanted in the journal to her without consequences. It was a great way to express all the things I didn’t feel like I could say “in real life”
I am SO making one of these TONIGHT! I absolutely LOVE this idea! I also think it’s a great way to connect with kids as well as your spouse. You can create a book for each kid and parent and child can write notes to each other. Thanks so much for sharing!
Well, there ya go making my idea even better! I agree, what a great way to connect with everybody in your family!
great idea! my 7 yr old had a real tough time when school started this year so she has a notebook in her backpack that i write notes in to her-nothing fancy like this though
maybe i should dress her up a bit! Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Thanks for stopping by Dawn! See…you’re so smart you already do it!
really it was her idea
guess she’s the smart one but i trained her well
What a darling idea and such a treasure.
I think my daughter would really enjoy this idea. Letters are definitely her love language. And a special notebook just for us…what a treat!
Thanks for stopping by Stacy! Hope the idea encourages lots of Mother/Daughter talks!
Adorable!
The note looks very cute and the idea is very useful to keep children and parents well communicated.
