While I was pregnant with Jonah, there were 6 other ladies pregnant at my church. Yes, 7 pregnant women at the same time! There was definitely “something in the water!” One by one, we had our ultrasounds to find out if we were on the pink team or the blue team. I was the first to find out and was excited about having a boy. Over the next few months, all the other ladies found out they were having a girl. Out of 7 pregnant ladies, I was the only one having a boy. Talk about feeling out of place and lonely!
Who would I compare stories with? Who would I compare potty training notes with? Who would share my amazement of the innate traits of boys? Who would Jonah do “boy stuff” with? I tried to stay positive. I cracked jokes about Jonah having his pick of the girls. I secretly prayed that God would send boys….and He did! We now have a handful of boys at our church that Jonah plays with regularly. And me? Well, I’ve been comparing notes, stories, and concerns that only moms of boys would understand.
So, I’m wondering…
Are you tripping over train sets?
Dodging balls thrown in the house?
Praying nothing gets broken while they rough-house?
I have been “in-the-know” about something super exciting in the works, and it’s finally time to spill the beans!
Let me be the first to invite you to the M.O.B. Society!
The M.O.B. Society is “FOR moms of boys, BY moms of boys”. A place to connect. A place to learn. A place to know that you’re not alone. The website will launch Tuesday, June 1st!
Want to know another secret?
I’m writing a little bit for them! Yay! If you have a boy, I hope you’ll check it out. The writing team is absolutely amazing!
For Mothers of Daughters–Don’t despair, there’s a website in the works for you too! I’ll let you know when The M.O.D. Squad launches so you can go talk about all things pink!

I had to giggle at the photo of the trains and cars lined up. Jackson does this EVERY day. He is obsessed with Thomas and his Friends. And those Hot Wheel Cars HURT when ya step on them. And I love being a mommy of a boy, just like you! Can't wait to see the website!
Being a Mom to a boy means getting to say all sorts of things I didn't expect to say.
That picture is too funny! My son is always lining up his cars, trucks and trains and doesn't go anywhere with out one. Love the comment about tripping and dodging-that's us! If it has wheels or is a ball, my son is there. My husband bought mini lacrosse sticks yesterday because my 9 yr old plays and my son hasn't let it go since, he has a ball in the net and he's even slept and bathed with it!! Congrats on writing for the website-can't wait to check it out!
So excited that you're writing for them!! I sure need support in raising my boy!! (Can you believe my mother-in-law had 6 boys!!-no girls!!) =)
I can answer yes to all those questions with two boys in the house. I've been hearing about MOB,and excited to go check it out.
Ha ha, when I first read this, I thought Mamba?
Count me in for the M.O.B. Society! Ben is all boy. He loves to pick up rocks and play in the dirt while in the yard (A little girl would pick flowers). He's all about tractors and trucks. And when he dances, he's not up on his toes like little girls do, he's boppin' around or break dancing!
Thank Heaven for little boys!
