One of the interesting things I’ve come to realize through this journey of motherhood is that at the same time I am parenting Jonah, God is parenting me. Just as I discipline, encourage obedience, and wipe away the tears when Jonah falls, God is doing the very same thing with me.

Another thing….just as I am learning and growing in my faith, God is revealing himself and calling to Jonah’s heart. It’s beautiful and gives me goosebumps even as I type it for you to read. The folks at Tommy Nelson understand this and have a set of devotions perfect for this parallel journey.

Jesus Callingby Sarah Young, is a “year’s worth of daily readings to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from a monologue to a dialogue.” The daily devotions are written as if Jesus were speaking to you—beautiful, thought-provoking, and infused with scripture.

My favorite thing about Jesus Calling…..there is a version for adultsand a parallel version for kids! Can you imagine what would happen if your whole family were reading the same devotion and scripture passage each day? I can only imagine the conversations just waiting to happen!

Tommy Nelson has 2 weeks of the devotional available for you to download for FREE. They’re challenging families to take a 2-week devotional challenge and see what great things happen. I’ve joined in the challenge! Will you?

And….we’re having a giveaway!

Very neat. I am always praying that I will instill a love and knowledge of God to Ben. We pray every night. We read from his kid’s Bible (he even asks for the Bible). Of course, we attend church and he goes to the nursery where we have a great nursery care person who teaches during that time.
You are so right when you say God is parenting us. Even in our parenting. Like how we tend and care for our little blessings, how we discipline them (which is something I’m still asking about), and how we train them up.

Every morning we read a devotional from a little book called Devotions for Preschoolers. My kids (6 and 1) really love it. Even though the 6 year old is no longer a preschooler. She loves the characters in the book and the drawings are BEAUTIFUL! We also study the Bible during home school, and memorize scripture together. We have random little conversations through out our days about Jesus, the things he made, the things he does for us, asking him for help, etc. And of course we go to church a lot and they hear a lot about it there too!

Thanks for the opportunity to win this! I think I want them whether I win or not ;P

Sara, this is a wonderful giveaway! We are planning on starting family devotions on Monday. We have wanted to do it for a while but life always gets the best of us. We have made a commitment to schedule this time and stick to it. We teach our kids through stories and play and also do scripture memory.

Thanks for this opportunity to win! :)
We are constantly talking about Jesus’ love and sacrifice for us with our kids. Praying before each meal; saying thanks for the little things; and making sure they understand the meaning of thankfulness.

Most mornings at breakfast I read out of my kids’ Bible, then I read the same verses out of my Bible. We go to church and sing “Jesus” songs. We talk about Jesus but I’d love a devo pointed at kids!

We teach our children that Jesus saves. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and anyone that calls on him and believes shall be saved. We pray w/ them daily and remind them that we are called to do His will and teach his word.

Thank you so much for this giveaway. I love to share as much as I can about the Lord with my son. Children pick up on things so quickly. My son accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 5. He decided to get baptized last year. I LOVE sharing with him and also love to hear him pray and encourage me with the Word. It is awesome.

This year my kids (ages 4, 7, 10) and I have set a goal to memorize the book of James together. So far we are about 17 verses into the 108.
This sounds like a fun, easy devotional to add to our daily study time.

Our little family piles on the couch every night at bedtime to read a book & a story from the kids’ Bible. Then we pray together. I’m trying to work a morning devo into the breakfast routine too but am still working on a doable plan.
