The funny thing about moving to WordPress is that it generates a thumbnail for you. As much as I like quilts, I’d rather not see this
When I would much rather see this
I want to see your smiling face, not a quilt avatar! By seeing your face, I connect with you. I click on your avatar and visit your blog (if you have one) and read about the things you are into. I comment. I pray for you. And next time I see your face in my comment box, I remember you.
So, I have a little homework for you. I promise it will take less than 5 minutes. If you complete this homework, you’ll be entered in a giveaway for a happy surprise from my Etsy shop. Ooh, prizes…everyone likes a little incentive, right?
Your 2-step Assignment:
- Go make a Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) at http://en.gravatar.com/ .
- Come back and make a comment to be entered in the giveaway and see your pretty face appear in the comment section.
The directions for making a Gravatar are easy and self-explanatary. It should only take a few minutes. You do NOT have to have a blog to get a gravatar. Even my non-bloggy visitors can have one!
Alright, go do your homework. I’ll be waiting to see your beautiful face in the comments section…

Gravatars are nice. In WP, you can set your preferences to how you want non-Gravatar users’ to show up in comments.
I already have a gravatar! I agree, it’s much nicer to see someone’s face!
Already have mine – and that’s what I love to see too! How fun!
The pic in my gravatar is a few years old, but you get the idea…
I finally “broke down” and made myself a gravatar awhile back. It’s not my face {hope that’s okay! I try to maintain a little anonymity}, but the pink roses were given to me by my sweetheart, and the picture makes me smile every time I see it. For me, it’s the perfect gravatar.
Perfect Jacky! I understand about anonymity, and really just want to see a reflection of you…not a randomly-generated avatar.
