InstaFriday: Six Months

by Sara McClure on March 2, 2012

Asher is 6 months old today. SIX whole months. Um, THAT is half a year. How is that even possible? I mean, on the one hand, it feels like he’s been around much longer than six months when I think about colic and sleepless nights that no amount of coffee can help. But then, on the other hand, I feel like I just blinked and here he is sitting up on his own.

He keeps me on my toes in ways that Jonah never did at this age. Which is probably why I’m having such a hard time squeaking out a blog post. Or cleaning. Or showering.

He’s wiggly–changing his diaper is like wrestling a greased pig at the fair.

And strong-willed–I think it’s safe to say I will be reading Dr. Dobson’s book sooner than later.

He’s “King of the Catnap” and my cuddle-bug.

I wouldn’t trade him for all the world.

He leaves me absolutely speechless some days. Like when I turned around and found him CLIMBING onto the bouncy seat just two days shy of 6 months.

Or when he CRAWLED to get the remote the second he saw Daddy put it on the floor….at one day shy of 6 months.

My life flashed before my eyes and I caught a glimpse of him standing on the roof with a cape one day….and I got a new gray hair just thinking about it.

And should you not believe me, here’s proof I’m going to lose my mind before Asher turns one.

He’s awesome!
So so SO cute…and I’m with ya on the cute-and-strong-willed…
I can very much relate and think we need to start a support-group :)

Support group? Yes, please! Or, really just getting out of the house for a cup of coffee with you will work ;) There’s a house for sale down the street, ya know….

I wish.
A walk-and-talk would be wonderful.
Are you going to Allume-aka-Relevant?
Maybe we could grab coffee and catch up?

Not sure if I’m going yet. I’d love to this year, but we’ll see. I would have to be sponsored. I just can’t justify the costs with the adoption.

Hi there!
Stopping by from LifeRearranged! Your video made me smile. My son just turned 8 months and he still isn’t crawling up on all fours yet, he is just army crawling, but the minute you put the remote on the floor, he goes for it! They can be SO determined. Mine also has done the “crawl into and out of the bouncer” trick…
Have a good weekend!

So sweet! I wanted to cheer when he finally reached the remote :) You can see the look of grit determination on his face. It’s been a long time, but we met at the first Relevant in 2010. Did you go in 2011? Will you be there this year? It’s been fun watching your family grow here!

Hi Kim! I do remember you. I didn’t go in 2011 since Asher was just shy of 2 months. Good thing, too, since he had terrible colic. I would’ve been miserable! I’m not sure if I’m going again. I’d love to, but with our adoption (did you know about that?) we are being super careful with money. However, if a sponsor comes my way…I’ll be there!
