Jesus Storybook Bible Giveaway

I am so honored to bring you this giveaway today! You are in for a treat!

We were introduced to The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones through our church. Written in story format, it highlights stories you would hear in Sunday School. Pretty typical for a children’s Bible, right? But there is so much more to this children’s Bible…
The thing that compelled us to hunt for and purchase this particular children’s Bible can be summed up by its subtitle “Every story whispers his name…” Because don’t they all?!?! Every single story told in this Bible end with the author subtly relating it back to Jesus. God has been using this “Children’s Bible” to speak to me and stop me right in my sinful, self-absorbed tracks. The Lord has been reminding me that not only the stories in the Bible whisper His name, but mine and yours as well.
Every.
Single.
Thing.
He loves us and works everything for good. He takes every filthy thing about us and uses it to point right into the very heart of Heaven. Because it isn’t about us and how filthy we are, but how pure and holy our Rescuer is. It took me a long time to piece everything together in this way, what a wonderful thing to find a children’s Bible to help teach our children how God wove the story of redemption for us!
I want to share an excerpt from the intro because it is so beautifully written:
“There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all of the stories are telling one Big Story. The Story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them. It takes the whole Bible to tell this Story. And at the center of the Story, there is a baby. Every Story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle–the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together, and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture.” (p.17 The Jesus Storybook Bible)
I would love it if you take the time to look around The Jesus Storybook Bible website. They have new videos every week made from the illustrations with David Suchet reading the stories. There are also several free downloads (pdf and mp3 audio samples) of the Deluxe Edition. What a great way to sit down with your kids and interact with their Bible stories!

Comments

  1. We teach our children about Jesus by reading the Bible to them, memorizing verses with them, taking them to church with us so that they can see the power of God move in people's lives, and just talk with them throughout the day as we go about our business about Him.

I'm already a fan of JSB on Facebook!

  6. 1. My husband & I sit down with our girls each night on the couch for storytime. The girls take turns picking a storybook & a Kid Bible. We read together every night and try our best to weave our faith talks throughout our "real life" so God doesn't become a day of the week.

My favourite way of teaching my kids about the Bible is telling them the stories whilst we do housework. Although often we all end up standing on the sofa brandishing cuddly camels as we get into the parts! My son's favourite way of telling others about Jesus' love is singing what he calls "Jesus songs" at them at school! It makes me want to cry happy tears when he asks for "another yummy story" when we start the dinner!

(If you want to read them, we have written some of them down and linked to them on my fb page)

I've seen some great reviews of this book – and I'd love to share it with my daughter…

What we're currently doing – The One Year Devotions for Preschoolers 2 book – I read that as a transition into getting ready for school/day care, along with a poem for the day. We have a memory verse on our school bulletin board, so we review that every time we start school. And we read 5 books at night – I always try to include one Bible/Christian book in the mix.

And we just got this very cool set of books from my sister: http://www.reviewandherald.com/index.php/products/profile/0828011435.rhpa
I learned how to read myself with them, and am planning to use them for reading lessons with my daughter, too!
