Some Days…

by Sara on April 21, 2011

You just have to hit the button “Mark All As Read” in your Google Reader because the sheer number of blog posts stresses you out. Hitting the delete button is the quickest way to clear the clutter, without having to exert any energy.

You think about just deleting your Facebook account all together because you just can’t seem to say the right things and things always seem to get misconstrued on a screen.

You’d rather just stay in bed and pull the covers over your head.

You’d like to hop in the van and just run away to a place where no one knows your name. Extra points if there is sand and waves to carry away your thoughts.

You wonder why you keep doing the same things over and over expecting different results.

You feel like a lion, roaring just because you can.

It’s been one of those days here. It seems fitting that on the eve of my Savior’s Crucifixion celebration I’m such a mess. Tomorrow, all of my sin and mess will be nailed to His cross…literally. Our church is having a “nailing service” and communion for Good Friday and I feel I need it more and more every second of today. It’s almost as if the enemy of my soul is trying to get in one last attack on my heart before the celebration. But I’ve got news for the enemy, tonight I’m kneeling at the cross…

Dear beloved of the Lord, truly you have spoken well. The enemy of our soul is very active just before and after the celebrations of our Lord’s resurrection or any blessings the Lord brings our way. The enemy of our souls cannot stand a joyful heart or the praise to our Lord. It is why Paul admonished us to have a sacrifice of praise in the midst of trials, tribulations and daily ho-hums. I hear of many who are suffering so many things in all aspect of their lives this week. It brings to mind of the suffering of our Lord in Garden of Gethsemane just before His call and answer to the will of His Father in heaven. In Christendom, Paul tells us that suffering brings with it the reminder of the suffering of our Lord and our share in it. May we in the midst of it be reminded of our Lord’s sacrifice and we offer a sacrifice of praise.

some days can just be overwhelming.
A “nailing service?” I have never heard of that. I would love to know more…

I can give you more details after tonight, since this is the first time we’ve done it. From what I’ve already been told, we will go up to the cross and get to nail a paper with a sin written on it. I’m assuming we will write a sin that we struggle with and want to give to God. Then we will take communion. I’m kind of excited. I think hammering the nails will make it very personal tonight.

I really appreciate this…and I’ve been there so many times….as in, just this past Saturday night :) Family stress, travel, expectations = marriage disharmony.
And I did mark all as “read” on Sunday, just to get a clean, fresh start.
But I’m with you–made the Victory–even more powerful for me on Sunday.
The Cross. Forgiveness. So so thankful!
Love the way this post ended…
