It is finished!

by Sara on May 1, 2009

Ok, so it’s been a looooong time since I posted about my quilt progress, but better late than never, right?!? I started really fired up and then for whatever reason I slowed down and took a break…..months later I still hadn’t finished it and haven’t really been able to get my crafty mojo on because it’s been sitting there staring at me…waiting on me to finish it. You crafty types know the feeling? I had worked on it one day when I was sick and my stitching was REALLY crooked! This bothered me immensely (perfectionist) and I just couldn’t touch it. Then it hit me that if I added some decorative stitching that it would cover up the crooked lines and add a little character. So, I decided that today was the day…. No matter what, I was determined to finish it! And guess what…..I finished!I love it now!

This is my first “official” quilt. I tried once before, but I made up a few of the steps that I wasn’t sure about. I’m so glad I joined the You Can Make This “Quilt-A-Long” that was featured on their blog. I learned so much! A couple of the new skills that I feel learned and confident with now are:

  1. “Squaring up” quilt blocks
  2. Making pinwheel quilt blocks.
  3. Making my own binding
  4. Attaching binding

Want to learn some new crafty skills? You Can Make This has instructions and patterns for all sorts of things! Their e-books have step-by-step instructions with pictures that even the newest of crafters could follow. Hop on over and take a look! Click on the picture below to see what YOU can make….

You Can Make This!

And now that I finished my quilt, I got my crafty mojo on and made a quick birthday present for Jonah’s friend Kelsey.

I am SO impressed! I couldn’t sew on a BUTTON if someone needed me to lol, so when people can make a full blown quilt!! Whew! You’ve got my praises! I love the colors. So fun! And I KNOW that people have probably said this to you before, but only YOU see the imperfections. because to me, it looks flawless!
I wanted to come over and say thank you for saying hello on my Wonderfully Wordy blog! I love visitors.
Thanks for taking the time to look around!
